I planned to bring in the New Year in my pajama suit at house party, giving all the Hillary, nasty woman vibes, but I had a change of plans. I brought the new year in, in the club (wearing a body-con lace dress). I was literally standing 3 feet away from Nas, like Illmatic, Nas Album Done, Belly... Nas. In his eyes, I saw that the fountain of youth is real, as well as, love, truth and honor lol. That tangent could go on, back to the story ... 5..4..3..2..1...... HAPPY NEW YEARS, literally my first thought of 2017, "I'm in a lot of debt."
Seemingly every New Year' s resolution fits in 1 of 5 categories- Love/Relationships, Career, Finance, Travel or Health/Beauty. With finances out of whack moving forward with any of the others is an unsound decision for me. As of this year, late 20's will officially describe my age group and tackling this, what feels like the plague, cannot be put off any longer. With any of the other new year, new you, goals I would have a strong grasp on what to do, where to begin, but money- what tf. My first step, which is so obvious to some, but something I have never done- a budget. I spend on what I like and that is it, stopping to say- no, you cannot afford this, this week/month, will be new for me and a part of me, very small part, is looking forward to it. Structure in my life, is that you zaddy? Outside of that, ya'll think Howard University will take my bachelor's degree back? ... No..ok. Financial nastiness it is.
Have any financial strategies worked for you or what is you resolution for the year? Fashion talk is always welcome. Share!
This photo is not the greatest for fashion blogging, you know actually being able to see the outfit, but this aesthetic is giving me lifeeeee yaaaaaaaaaaaaaas!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, may it bring love and financial literacy!

Erica
